This year is baby’s first Christmas, so we want to start some family traditions with him.
When I was little, these kind of sugar cookies weren’t the ones my mother used to make for us. She did made cakes and cookies for us but not like that, although extremely tasty and good. I remember she always let me taste some of the dough or the creams she would make, I was so happy.
I’m really bad at drawing or painting so cookie decorating cookies isn’t one of my strengths. So the least I can do is to make it tasty.
So here’s the recipe I’ve made. You don’t have to chill the dough but if you want to make it in ahead of time, you can put it in the fridge for a few hours, it will do no harm.
Christmas Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
- 230 g butter
- 150 g sugar
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 10 g baking powder
- 380 g flour
- 1 pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven at 180°C.
- In a bowl mix the butter with sugar until it's smooth.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl whisk the flour with baking powder and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ones and mix until it's smooth and fully combined.
- Place the dough on the counter dusted with flour and divide it into 2 batches, roll it out and shape it as you like.
- For the medium and large cookies I baked them 8-10 minutes, for the small ones 6-7 minutes, until the edges are slightly golden brown.
- Let them cool on the cooking sheet until firm enough to transfer them and before decorating.
